Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Osceola, East Osceola, NH
Trails
Trails: Mt. Osceola Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, November 28, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Tripoli Road, as of this writing, is still open, and the roadbed is very passable by unmodified passenger cars. That said, it's getting very late in the season, so don't expect the gate to remain open for much longer. Every day is a gift at this point.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Technically, there are water crossings, yes. For all practical purposes? You're not going to notice them.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was in fine shape. There is one blow-down that is easily crossed with a saddle. Hi-ho Silver! Away! Oh wait... I meant "straddle." Don't worry, it's not going to slow you down even by a moment.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One very happy pup with an incurable case of the zoomies. Wow, that doggy happiness was infectious.
Bugs
Bugs: Yes, actually! I spied a tiny little snowfly on the col heading back up Osceola.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None that I found, but I did see a few things at the trailhead kiosk.

Comments
Comments: It was a fantastic outing. Drizzle at the trailhead gave way to snow a little higher up. Spikes and sticky snow ensured fantastic traction throughout. Clouds hung around until I was in the lower elevations on my way down, but it didn't matter. Watching the winter wonderland unfold throughout the day was as much of a view as anyone could want.

On the way up, ran into NETC Royalty, the man, the myth, the legend -- The Teal Goat! Wow, that was a little slice of heaven right there as we swapped stories. (Yes that beer was still there waiting for me, along with your lovely note. Quite delicious -- thanks!)

Pictures and a more detailed write-up are on my blog, as always. Enjoy, and subscribe!
