Lots of wet leaves. Be careful! The slabs were wet but not too slippery--it's the leaves and roots you have to watch out for right now. If temps drop in the coming days, there's a lot of water on this route that would freeze up and make your journey much more difficult. If anyone's done the Downes Brook crossing lately, it would be worth posting about.
Socked in today, but still got some good views of Hedgehog, Passaconaway, Whiteface, Fool Killer, and the Nancy range. Downes Brook slide and other visible rocks had some snow visible. Mosses and lichens were super happy with this weather and were even more lush than usual.
Saw 14 other hikers total plus 2 doggos during our 4 hours out there today. Big thanks to those who gave ample space and/or wore masks while passing! Stay safe out there, folks. |
