Light snow fall was sustained all day, slightly heavier at times at higher elevation. Hancock Notch was wet but an easy walk. Cedar Brook was muddy, but most spots were easily avoided or not too messy; keep in mind that it was a 32 degrees day, so the ground was hardened. Completed the Hancock Loop Trail clockwise and put spikes on about a quarter mile after the split going up the North Peak. The trail was steep and a bit slick, but it was hard to tell if it was from the light coating of snow or residual ice under that snow. The path from North to South and the descent from South Peak were icy and definitely required spikes. The falling snow was enjoyable, but it would have been nice to enjoy the view at the top without the clouds. |
