Comments
Comments: Left the trailhead at 8am with no rain and it started about a mile up the trail and continued all day. We didn't need spikes till shortly before the top junction and the mt kinsman trail was flat for miles and a short incline after that anyone could hike it. The real fun started after the junction with sheets of ice and tricky climbs all the way to south kinsman. With proper traction, the climb is possible. The snow has basically melted. The trails were filling up with pooling water over the ice as we left, so I expect an ice rink trail with the next freeze. On the way down, mt kinsman trail turned to mush and we were slipping all the way. No regrets cause we would rather be on a freezing rain mountain than black Friday shopping...unless it was for cool new gear.
