I skirted around the boggy Emerson Natural Area (Tamworth Conservation Commission) and ascended Larcom via the NW ridge, passing through mostly open woods. Views from the summit were excellent, thanks in part to extensive cutting that has taken place on most sides of the main ledge. From the summit I quickly found the Larcom Mountain Trail, which I took to Little Larcom Mountain - the trail is obvious and marked in places by striped flagging tape. I descended the west side of Little Larcom and found mostly easy woods for the return trip. |
