The whole day was spent in the clouds with either a mist or light rain at all times. Everything got wet today. Gale river trail was wet and muddy. Ice on the trail started around 3,600ft. But I was being stubborn and didn’t put my spikes on til Galehead hut. They remained on for the rest of the summits until I returned to the Gale river trail. Twinway up to S. Twin was not fun, ice the entire way with sections of the trail with running water over the ice. Even the spikes were slipping at times. North twin spur was icy but much more tolerable. Going back down Twinway wasn’t much fun but was happy when I was back on the Gale river trail. |
