With the later start (around 10am) and warming temperatures this morning, we found mostly wet trail with some spots of ice (all types) on Hancock Notch Trail and Cedar Brook Trail. The first 1.1 miles of the loop trail had more spots of ice. We went CW (not recommended unless you have traction - sharp spikes, hillsounds) AND are comfortable descending ice). Going up North, we didn't put traction (I used hillsound trail crampons) on until about 0.1 mile from summit, and then kept them on until about 0.1 until the bottom of South. Novembery misty day for these two mountains. |
