Weeks Brook Trail is in very good shape. The Forest Service has put several posts through the large log landing to make the trail (Thank you) and beyond this the blazes must be followed with care. Many seem to be newly painted but other areas are very difficult to follow. Luckily there is a fairly good foot-bed that can be followed now that the leaves have compacted. Took a similar route as those before me, just after the third stream crossing and just before the swampy area and 90 degree turn toward Kearsarge-North and about 2,200' elevation I headed into the woods directly toward the summit. Lots of open woods with much dead wood to step over initially then just a dense fir growth to push through. The good news is that it only lasts for about .2 miles. Summit is easily recognized and after signing in I returned in the opposite bearing as coming in. Much easier going out and down hill. |
