Comments: A fine day in the forest with friends. We all needed Carrigain for grid, and with the savings of 3.8 miles with the road open - why not! I wore a t shirt until Signal Ridge itself, then layered up. We opted to take the three abandoned/rerouted versions of Signal ridge for something a little different. All easily followed. Trail is in good shape, as others have mentioned, spikes are a game changer about 3500ft or so. It's silly to NOT have them this time of year. On the way out, with daylight on the table, we opted for a NH500 bushwhack to Signal Ridge Parking Lot Peak (2234). Took a compass bearing of due south from the height of land around 1800. Found lovely open woods until just before the summit cone, where it got a little scrappy, but nothing even remotely bad. Unsuprisingly, not a lot of names in the register, only a handful dating back a few years, but the ones in there are easily recognized! Took a bearing towards the switchback away from the river (where the brush in for the old trail is) and missed it by 25 feet! Not bad! Ran into several familiar faces, too!
