All the brook crossings were easy rock hops. Rocks were dry with no ice on them. |

There are several downed trees. None are new. One on the ridge between the 2 peaks will be difficult in the winter due to branches. Someone with a saw could help with that. |

Great conditions, beautiful day out! There is some wet trail at low elevations, but little standing water. Spikes went on around 3,000 feet and stayed on until we came back down to 3,000 ft. There is a mix of frozen dirt/ice/scant snow from about 3,000 feet and above. It made for a great surface and spikes were perfect. Trees on the ridge are spectacular—ice and snow covered. One of the most beautiful days I can remember in the Hancocks. Chilly and very windy with intermittent snow squalls today. Minimal snow accumulation. |
