Winter is getting closer. We had frozen mud for the first mile, then a combination of frozen mud, ice from melt flow, and a little wet mud. There was never enough ice to warrant putting on trail spikes, but we almost did in a very icy section in the saddle between Pierce and Eisenhower. A little more rain or freeze/thaw and it will be time. The wind was high after noon. We had planned to go over to Jackson too, but my partner strained his foot, so we cut the day short. |
