The trail was so enchanting today thanks to the on and off snow flurries! Luckily, there was no significant accumulation and bare booting was a good decision. Some muddy spots lower on 19MB but anything that looked muddy above the notch was frozen, so the feet stayed dry. A couple slippery sections on 19MB just below the notch, and on Carter Dome Trail just below Zeta Pass, but not nearly enough to warrant traction this time around. There were more people than I thought we’d see today but everyone seemed prepared and at least it wasn’t like the wildly busy summer weekends. Weather and conditions turned out better than I expected! Great colder weather hike after a warm week. |
