this was an amazing and unusual November day the temps were in the high 60's and the winds were light, our party of 4 knew we would not get another perfect day like this to do this trail in 2020 so we went for it. the Franconia ridge trail is quite simply the most beautiful trail in all the 48 4k peaks. you are above tree line for 1.7 miles. the last time I had hiked this was 36 years ago. this trail is difficult the falling waters trail is lovely but you are going up up up for what seems like forever. once you get to the ridge you are traveling up and over multiple peaks and the rocks going down greenleaf make for slow going. we left at 830 and returned just before dark at 445 |
