Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Simple one-hop crossings throughout.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in good shape, though some of the "native built" puncheon was rotted to near-uselessness in places where it would have been good to have some solid bog bridge of some sort. Almost all of the factory manufactured wood bog bridge was in solid shape, with only a small number on its way out. There's miles of it up there, so apologies that I can't recall exactly where.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A couple pups having a great day out. Miles and smiles all around.
Bugs
Bugs: For the warm (50s and 60s) weather, surprisingly, none. A lovely departure from the usual.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A black knit glove with a silver spider logo (I think it's the "Spyder" ski apparel brand.) Found on the side of Eisenhower's summit dome. And a pair of lightweight fleece gloves, clipped together, found near Saco Lake, near the train depot. Both finds were left on the picnic tables at the depot.

Comments
Comments: Just a quick post -- my usual detailed write-up will have to wait until tomorrow due to work commitments. But I had to get the word out: The trail was unbelievably great today. Lots of sun, and a wind that was brisk, but not terribly distracting. And wow, the crazy-unseasonably warm temps. Views were unhindered by anything. Wow!

Glad to have met so many wonderful people on the trail, including one who said it was a slice of heaven to finally have met the Protean Wanderer. It was very nice meeting you, too!

A quickie-write up with a few photos is currently on my blog. Stay tuned, tomorrow will bring more details, and lots more photos.
