The 2 or 3 hour hike that takes all day - because you spend a lot of time enjoying the views from the ledges! We selected this one due to a late start and wanting to get back home at a reasonable hour (work early the next day and Mass has a curfew - which I can violate to drive to the post office for work - but not driving home from a hike). We did this a few years ago in early June, it's great in stick season as well. Both times clockwise. A lot of history here, there are corresponding number posts along the trail. Magnificent views from ledges of Paugus, Passaconaway, etc. The only thing we did not see was a small registry built by whoever was caretaker at the time when we last did this. He had built a little cabinet reminiscent of those little libraries you see on street corners and it had a notebook in it.
Trail was a little slippery (for me, not Prema) in places where there was a mix of pine needles and leaves on the trail. |
