| Comments: |
Sloppy trail conditions. Surfaces included water running down trail, water in puddles, mud, slush, ice, and some dry ledges, rocks and soil. The conditions alternated so it was best not to wear traction unless one felt uncomfortable in a steep icy trail. There were enough dry ledges near the summit of Mt Jackson to permit safe passage without traction. The bog bridges were often covered with ice and frozen slush that required careful passage. The ice/slush may disappear with the warm temperatures. The melt water is running everywhere.
Great views from both Mt Jackson and Mt Pierce as well as the alpine bog between Mt Jackson and Mizpah hut. American flag on Mt Pierce. Mizpah hut is closed. Gray Jays on Mt Jackson. |
