Quite the winter-like hike today. Cold, snowing, drifting snow covering rocks. Enough snow (2' down low... up to 6+" up higher and drifting in places) that light traction was just the ticket for not slipping on the snow on top of slippery leaves. Not quite enough snow for snowshoes (still too boney)... but that surely can't be far away.
After hitting Liberty we began to head towards Mt. Flume, but the snow had filled in the rock crevices and we'd take several steps just to have a foot drop unexpectedly into a crack... so we called it a good day and turned it around.
Fun pre-winter shake down hike. |
