| Comments: |
Be careful of black and blue ice throughout the trail - lightweight Yaktrax would be ideal for the lower elevations as there is no real snow accumulation but the ground is frozen and covered in black ice in many spots. Very slippery. All three bridges were slick with ice at the time of ascent. Microspikes can be worn as well though may be uncomfortable given the lack of snow.
Minor snow accumulation and blue ice further up as you approach the summit. The summit is mostly free of ice and was covered in a few inches of snow. Easy navigation around the summit cone, the snow that is there was mostly packed.
There is also lots of exposed ice going down Carriage Road trail if you're doing the loop. |
