 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The parking lot is very small--room for 4 cars perhaps. Before the parking lot, there are 2 dirt pull-offs on the right side of the road if you're coming from Bartlett (each pull-off can fit about 4 cars). 7 cars parked when we started, a different 8 when we finished. |

Started around 10 and finished around 1--spent 2 hours actually moving and enjoyed a nice lunch break on the ledges.
With freezing temps at night, there are some challenging sections of trail. A few rocks were slippery with ice at the water crossings. The trail is mostly covered in leaves, but not too slippery (there is an enjoyable crunch underfoot if leaves are frosty). The ledges and exposed rock were icy in parts and it was hard to tell where to step for traction. The ice was not thick enough for microspikes to be helpful, and by the time we were descending, most ice had melted. In parts where there was snow (shady wooded trail sections), there was no more than 1 inch.
Herd path junction is not marked, but at that point you can see that not many have continued on the Attitash Trail towards Big Attitash. Some footprints in the snow heading that direction, however. |
