Comments
Comments: I began walking up Kings Hwy on the gravel road. I missed the turnoff (actually straight ahead) for Kings Hyw. as the nice gravel road took a sharp right and began heading up steeply but it was so open I followed it. After about .25 it opened up but at this point I encountered a "Private property No Unauthorized Vehicles" sign making me feel uncomfortable that I was where I shouldn't be. I continued to the end of this road to a point due west of the peak and took a bearing for the summit. I crossed a snomo trail that runs along the Giles State Forest Boundary, this is the trail I was aiming for and the route that I took out. From the Snomo Trail to the summit was very steep and loaded with blowdowns. Once at the RHP I signed in and then dropped down a little further north to the Snomo trail which headed northerly and intersected with Kings Hwy which I followed to the truck. This part of Kings is easy to follow but difficult to see when coming in. It enters the woods right at the sharp turn on the gravel road. This would actually have been a much easier ascent.
