Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The several crossings of North Branch of Gale River were all rock hopable with care. River height almost at level were crossings could be difficult.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were fine with one exception of a high step over of a fallen evergreen that one of the hikers today made easier to get over with some nice saw work. I didn't see anyone using traction but I think everyone carried micro spikes.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: there were no dogs on the trail today
Bugs
Bugs: none
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: nothing - see later comment about garbage at Galehead Hut

Comments
Comments: this was a pleasant 10.2 mile out and back hike along a well maintained, but sometimes muddy, wet trail. On a few occasions the trail was close to walking in a light stream. The day had continuous minimal snowfall and the entire upper section of the trail was covered with trace snow but that didn't cause any big problems. Saw about 10 to 12 friendly people on the trail, all of whom followed covid 19 protocol for hikers. When climbing the actual summit of Salehead on Frost Trail there were three of us who had all hiked up independently and we covered the ages of 72, 73 and 74. I guess it was Senior Citizens day on Galehead.

Only sad note to an otherwise great day was seeing the garbage someone left at Galehead under one of the wooden benches on the porch. Sadly all of us had fairly full winter packs so nothing could get hauled out.
