Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Liberty Brook and Lincoln Brook crossings were high. We hopped submerged rocks for the former but waded knee-deep through the latter in water shoes. At least two other hikers ended out in Lincoln Brook after trying to cross it on rocks.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lincoln Woods and Black Pond Trails were in good shape. The Black Pond "bushwhack" was the driest trail of the day and easy to follow, with only some minor confusing braiding at the Black Pond end. Lincoln Brook Trail was in its usual muddy state. The lower Owls Head slide was dry but the upper part in the woods hosted an unavoidable running stream. Brutus bushwhack is fairly easy to follow down with care and generally in good shape but with stretches of steep slippery mud. A few blowdowns along the trails, not bad.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None beyond the Lincoln Woods Trail where we encountered an intimidating pack of chugs, leashed, thankfully. :)
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: We found an basic headlamp on the Lincoln Brook Trail. Please email me for its return.

Comments
Comments: The sunny, warm day was perfect for this fun longish hike with Chris. We were pleased with our choice to go up the slide and down Brutus, recommended if you're familiar with the route. Accurate GPS tracks are an aid; Gaia has both bushwhacks depicted perfectly on their maps. Views were lovely at Black Pond and from the slide. C/2 48/49
