 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The gravel road is a little rough and bumpy in spots but not too bad. The right turn off Passaconaway Road and one or two other turns on High St. are nicely signed with a mineral-collecting symbol. One car when I arrived at 8:20, about a dozen vehicles when I got back at 10:25. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Two crossings on this route. The first, about a half-mile in on Moat Mineral Site Trail, was flowing fairly well, but there were logs across the stream that could be used to get across (however, the logs seemed to be deteriorating from all the use they were getting). The other crossing was on Thompson Falls Trail about 0.1 miles from its lower junction with FR 379. This one took a little more thought, but there were enough partly-submerged and barely-submerged rocks to step on if you have waterproof boots. I suspect that in drier times these crossings would both be very easy - the rain Friday night definitely swelled the streams here. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were generally in very good shape. Just a few things: 1) The sign at the lower junction of Thompson Falls Trail and FR 379 doesn't say "Thompson Falls Trail", but it does point to Thompson Falls itself, so it shouldn't be too confusing. 2) There is no sign at the upper junction of Thompson Falls Trail and FR 379. 3) The portion of Thompson Falls Trail above the falls seems to be lesser-used, and is a little more difficult to follow. All of the junctions with mountain biking trails were well signed. |

 | Comments: |
This was a nice quick morning hike to redline these two trails. Moat Mineral Site Trail is gradual and easy to follow, even if the switchbacks in the northern section do get a little monotonous. Thompson Falls Trail is very scenic, and the falls are beautiful (they were running relatively high this morning due to the recent rain). Trails were damp in places but very little mud and the leaves weren't too slippery. |
