Perfect Presi Day! All sun and low winds! Summer conditions now. The ice on Mt. Washington was from the previous two day's freezing fog leaving impressive 1-2 foot rime ice formations on rocks above 5800' Towers had several feet thick ice that was falling off in sometimes huge chunks.
Alpine flowers especially in bloom on north end of Mt. Monroe Loop and on the Mt. Clay loop. Temps in the 30's to start kept black flies at bay, but around Mt. Clay they were swarming--think video of caribou in Alaska in bug season!!!! Vicious! |
