Comments
Comments: Mix of trail conditions all around; even an occasional spot of ice on the Ridge. Flume Slide was very slippery. The temperatures are definitely getting cooler. There were a fair number of people, but nowhere near as many as in the recent past.

On the descent of Greenleaf Trail, about 1 mile past the Hut, we began to hear gun shots. We would hear a couple of shots, then a pause for a little bit, then a couple of more shots. This continued for a while. As we continued to descend the sound was closer and closer. We passed a number of other hikers, all of whom were also hearing the gun shots, and quite frankly, a little alarmed. One persons told us he has called 911. It's impossible to tell, but given the location and the terrain, I think someone was probably just acting like a jackass and shooting a gun from the trail.
