Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 4, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Small parking area with on left. If there's no room in lot you can always park on the side of the road (we did).
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing at the start of the trail is easily rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: At .35mi there is a large tree (about 20" diameter) flat across the trail. There were a couple smaller trees that I couldn't move by hand, one was all the way out at 2.15mi. Other than that the trail is almost completely unmarked!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Our dog had a great time on this trail. The footing for the most part was soft and easy. Not a lot of water along the way so bring plenty for pup. Also, remember to bring a leash. Above tree line you should use it to save the vegetation from paws.
Bugs
Bugs: Terrible at the parking lot! Not to bad while moving, almost wore the bug net when we would stop.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a red button up shirt and some socks together, and a light color shirt and bag of carrots farther up the trail.

Comments
Comments: What a great day for a hike w/the dog! My wife and I had a blast on this trail. A few weeks ago a friend and I turned around at about 3800' due to post holing. Today the trail was almost completely dry and had great footing.
There are some blowdowns but nothing that can't be managed. We picked a lot of large branches out of the trail, hopefully that makes things even nicer next time.
