Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lots at North Twin and Galehead were basically full when we got to each but we got a late start around 10.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Galehead's were rock hops. The upper Little River crossing was a rock jumper close to the trail route, and a rock hop by going upstream a bit past the fallen trees. We bypassed the lower two crossings, but looking at the lowest, it seemed doable but I'd want poles, waterproof boots and gaiters.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: We met the most amazing trail maintainers on the Gale River Trail. Pepper and I can't thank enough the people who skip their own hiking to fix trails while donating blood to the black fly red cross. Gale River is in good shape. Frost and Twinway okay. North Twin had some step/crawl overs and a new blowdown that blocks the trail. The eroded sections in its upper steeps are so much better in winter.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy day for the mighty tough little dog and Sadie: plenty of water, nice temps, leisurely pace, fair number of treats, good views and a few other dogs like Coltrane.
Bugs
Bugs: Neither black flies or skeeters were a problem for me, and only on the North Twin ridge in an open spot did Black flies really nail Sharon. Given our leisurely pace and frequent picture stops I find this amazing.

Comments
Comments: Great day to be out on the trails and there were quite a few who did just that, of diverse ages and hiking abilities. North Twin is a fine peak in almost any conditions but today it was superb. Great companions and lots of nice people on the trail.
