Comments
Comments: I had been viewing/aiming to hike this peak for a while. The forest roads and "blue-blazed" trail were easy enough to follow. But as I climbed, I encountered very steep and wet/slippery ledge rock. At one point I got within a quarter mile of the summit and didn't dare climb further as the black moss/lichens were slick from the rain. But after backing down, I found another route to the summit that was a bit more of a bushwhack. Views were stunning!

I had planned to hike Hogback as well... but after getting to the summit I felt I had tempted fate enough on this solo hike. So I bushwhacked down off the steep section finding the woods a lot safer than following the blazes and rock cairns over the slick and damp ledge rock. At a point, I hopped back on the blue blazes, and enjoyed a pleasant walk out.

Will definitely return again when it's drier...and will go over to Hogback as well.
