Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: OMG! The lot was full by 6:35 AM! We arrived at 6:15 so were able to snag our spots. Upon our return in mid-afternoon, cars were lined up, waiting for people to leave so they could get a spot. The Kanc was bumper to bumper, both ways (took 30 minutes between LW & the Common Man). Cars were lined along the road for at least 1/4 mile. Get there early folks!

Trail Maintenance Notes: There were several large blow downs on the Owl's Head trail. Most were easy to hop over but one required kneeling to get through
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Great day for the dogs! They had a blast. Lots of water access so no need to carry water for your pet, except for the last mile headed to the summit.

Comments
Comments: Despite the filled lot, our morning hike to the summit was delightfully quiet and serene. The Black Pond BW is a bit difficult to follow shortly after exiting Black Pond but easy to follow, once you get further along. There was a family with 2 small children camping on the BP BW who expressed surprise and amazement that they thought they'd picked an isolated spot to camp, only to have a stream of hikers pass their tent in the early morning. ;) Passed a lot of hikers heading in as we were on our way back. Lincoln Woods and the Kanc were ridiculously busy upon our return at 3:30. INSANE!!! Get there early if you go on a weekend day.
