Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One 1.5' to 2' diameter evergreen across Daniel Webster Scout Trail at about 3 feet above surface. Can be straddled or walk around. Otherwise the tree falls on the Daniel Webster Scout Trail are easy walk overs or duck/walk unders. One tree across Osgood Trail between the tent site and the Great Gulf Trail is an easy step over. The cairns are generally small and the blue or yellow blazes are faded in the alpine zone on the Daniel Webster Scout Trail. Attentive hikers should have no problem on clear days but the way may not be obvious when the clouds blanket the high elevations.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not much for water on the Daniel Webster Scout Trail. Mica Schist rock surface may abrade paws.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Selected the Daniel Webster Scout Trail because I figured there would be less foot traffic. It turned out to be the case. I did not see any other hikers for the entire distance on the trail. There were a lot of hikers at the summit. Luckily there is a lot of area at the Mt Madison summit that facilitated social distancing. I saw a limited number of hikers on the Osgood and Great Gulf Trails and nobody on the Great Gulf Link Trail. From Mt Madison it appeared that Star Lake is dry.
The Osgood Trail is an easier descent from the alpine zone as compared with the Nelson Crag Trail, Lion Head Trail, or Boott Spur Trail.
