| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
With lodge closed road has been gated well before where you used to park. Your 8 mile hike will be closer to 10. Note go left at fork. First in at 7am only 5 more at 3. As i drove the Kancamagus i saw few if any vehicles parked at trailheads both am and pm. Even Lincoln Woods half full or less. |

All bridged thank you |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails are generally in fine shape. Handful of blow downs on Gorge Brook one large one early near a bridge and one quite a way up with well traveled path around. Three on Carriage Road all closer to Snapper. Two are walk under that may cause issues in deep snow. One an ugly widow maker that may be a future danger. Hard work to place rock steps and some will find a path around them. |

| Comments: |
Forecast possible showers but turned out near perfect. Only saw 7 others and had summit to ourselves for almost half an hour. What I have seen today at parking areas and numbers of hikers leads me to hope hiking pressure will be down heading into fall.
Sad to see much toilet paper very close to and on trail. Please take it with you in a ziplock or carry a small trowel and bury it off trail. If I’m correct about who reads trail reports I’m probably preaching to the choir.
Tomorrow is 9/11 and I believe flags on 48 should happen on Saturday. Great sight Great day.
Out hiked by grandsons again.
