Some stretches in the steep section of the North Twin trail from the third river crossing to North Twin are badly eroded with many places with loose rocks. Some fallen trees in the Twin col that can be stepped on and over or walked around. Some trees leaning across trail that are no problem now but may pose difficulties in the snow on the North Twin side of col. One birch just above trailhead down on trail that is easy to get by. |

| Comments: |
When I arrived at North Twin the ledge and summit area was embedded in a cloud with lots of wind. While approaching South Twin the clouds dissipated but the winds were persistent. Great views from the South Twin summit. On return to North Twin there were great views from both outlooks.
The usual mud was prevalent on the North Twin Spur north of South Twin. There are mud covered rocks emplaced in the mud sections to step on. As mentioned in the maintenance section, there are loose rocks which requires care on descent to avoid roller skating downhill.
I elected not to hike the herd path between the first and second crossings of Little River since the water levels were low.
Many hikers on the trail today. |
