Stellar day on the trail less traveled - not counting Emerald Pool traffic, we saw 1 party departing Eastman as we summited and 1 other party, a guy who ascended Slippery Brook deliberately because he swore the best way to get to the Baldface Shelter was to ascend Slippery Brook then descend the Baldface ledges. Next time I’ll bite my tongue and practice HYOH because the mom in me instinctively blurted that he was going the wrong way, which was not well received. We luxuriated for 30+ min alone at the peak.
As the WMG suggested, direct views were obscured but still they were amazing on this bluebird day- straight shot view of Mt. Wash, of course of S. Baldface, the Carters, Moats, Tri’s, Chocorua, Doubleheads, and more. Lovely moderate grade of a trail that made for fast round trip. 47/52WAV for us - almost there! |
