Top of Chocorua is quite rock scramble, and today was v windy due to remnants of Hurricane Laura. My pup did just fine but if dogs not okay with 3-4 foot vertical jumps, might be a problem. For other relevant notes, see other comments about bear sighting. |

| Comments: |
Just after the split off the Brook Trail to the Bee Line trail, we ran across a large black bear about 20-25 feet in front of us. Thankfully it passed without seeing my dog and I and we managed to get by quickly and got down. There were several signs of animal presence in the area (matted down grass, areas that looked nest like), so I was on alert, then the dog could definitely smell something right before the bear popped out. The Bee Line trail had a lot of downed branches across the path and small ferns growing, and we didn't see another person for the whole six miles back to the car, so I imagine this trail is very lightly trafficked and one of the reasons the bears are quite comfy there! |
