Mary and I hiked a counter clockwise loop. About 0.25 mi. up the SRKG/Ragged Mtn. Trail, the Cabin Tr. forks off to the right. Yellow blazes and occasional small signage mark the way. We stopped at Mud Pond and continued up to the cabin. From there the trail continued up hill to the "Bulkhead" (rocky view area), and was marked by orange flagging and occasional signs. The connector trail from the Bulkhead to Balanced Rock was more lightly used and maintained, but it had numerous yellow diamond blazes and was easy to follow. Once at Balanced Rock, a more heavily used path continued the last 350' to the SRKG. We hiked uphill, turned right onto the Ridge Trail, passing over Ragged East (aka Pinnacle) and on to the NE end of the ridge ("Old Top") where there were fantastic views to the north. We descended along the the Ragged Mtn./SRKG trail. An absolutely gorgeous loop hike, with many rewards.
