| Water Crossing Notes: |
Very minor crossings at low water right now. My shoes remained dry all day -- there isn't even much mud to be found unless you go wading around at the ponds. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The formally managed trails were in fine shape. Some bog bridge will be needing replacement in the next year or two, but everything was easily managed. The bushwhack up Mt Nancy is getting overgrown, especially up top, but still easily navigated. |

| Bugs: |
Minimal. I did get bitten rather painfully by something on the large side (maybe a wasp -- there was a Forest Service notice at the trailhead about a nest on Signal Ridge trail, although I was near Stillwater Junction) but otherwise, dragonflies seemed to be making short work of flying insects overall. There did seem to be quite a few buzzing about. |

| Comments: |
I only wish I got out on the trail a couple hours sooner, so I wouldn't have had to rush the second half of the hike. The ascent of both the cascades and of Mt Nancy was a bit tougher than expected and consequently ate up more time than I'd have preferred. I never get tired of seeing golden afternoon light filtering through the trees, though, so I'm remaining sanguine. And I had a moon to light my way on the walk back to the car.
Photos and a longer description are on my blog, as always. |
