Dorchester Road AT Section, Holts Ledge Trail, Trapper John Shelter Spur
This was a north to south traverse over Holts Ledge, party of four. Pretty easy going until the Skiway, then Holts Ledge Trail begins its ascent. We visited Trapper John Shelter just in time for a heavy thunderstorm to roll through, so we hung out there for a bit while the thunder and wind was all around us. We then headed up and over the ledge and its great views, then down to Goose Pond Rd. and the spotted car.
All trails were dry until the storm arrived, which brought along a deluge, but didn't make a dent in any of the streams. The water source at the shelter is dried up aside from one small puddle. Only saw a few NOBO thru-hikers, including two who joined us at the shelter. |
