Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was pretty free of blowdowns, just one significant one on the climb up Whitcher Hill as it was across the trail. Blazing was very meager and when there was an occasional blaze it was usually faded. More blazes closer to the ponds.

Comments
Comments: Beginning of the trail is the forest road which is in great shape although you do need to get through one very grassy section clearly visible due to ATV tracks matting it down. When the trail leaves the road it is pretty visible but as the climb up Whitcher Hill starts, the trail becomes more leaf strewn and fainter. When you reach a leafy blowdown about 2/3's of the way up, go around the blowdown and you will see how the trail continues. Once near the summit the trail becomes more clear as it slabs across then down to a grassy clearing. There is a moose or hiker path across the clearing through the high grass and back into the woods. The remainder of the trail was pretty clear with occasional sections where the grass or hobble bush is starting to cover the trail. At a T-intersection, the trail goes right while a trail to the left heads to the first pond. Once you reach the third pond, you will see several trails leading in differing directions. You will also glimpse a sign across the water. The actual trail heads across a couple logs, along a bank then over some bog boards to the junction with the Donkey Cutoff. Another redline we did during the drought to avoid a muddy hike!
