I took trails up to Neville, then a series of ATV trails, one of which was recently re-cleared, in the direction of Nottingham. These took me all the way up to the northernmost summit bump shown on the USGS topo, which is ledgy and open, but viewless. There is a good-sized cairn here. A short distance to the north is a pretty good viewpoint and old campsite. From that bump, I bushwhacked through open woods and clearings to the next two bumps to the south. I then hopped on another ATV trail (there are a lot up here) and followed it back to the first bump, then descended back toward Neville. From there I took NRT down to Tarlton Rd. for the walk out.
The trails here are the driest I've ever seen them; the usual muddy section at the start of NRSFT is dust at this point. I didn't visit Mill Pond or the cascades, but I imagine they are a trickle right now. |
