After parking at end of Forbes Mountain Road, I skirted around the gate to avoid the posted sign which only applies to property on the left of the road. Reuben and I continued on the woods road to almost the height of land where the logging road/atv trail made a shape right ascending to the HOL. . I found a stone pile which I assumed was the summit; found no canister and headed to Tinkham, following direct bushwhack route to the HOL. The last 200 yards were on the ATV trail which I assume heads down to the 4-corners. Returning I followed the well travelled atv trail until it began to veer away from my return route. I then bushwhacked to the woods road that follows the stream between Forbes and Tinkham. This led me back to Forbes Mountain Road a few 100 yards from where my truck was parked. A good day with Reuben. He was on top of his game, but was disappointed there were no registers so he could place his paw print, to proved he still has it in him. |
