Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: When I arrived at 8a there were only a couple spots left at the Lincoln Woods parking lot, 6 cars were parked on the side of the highway. When we returned the following day the lot remained completely full but now there were over 30 cars on the side of the highway.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings were easy to rock hop, low water flow
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Compared with 3 years ago, the Lincoln Brook trail continues to deteriorate. The brook has eaten into more of the trail in spots. Noticed a new bypass to avoid a lengthy wet trail section. The are other sections with standing water and mud. Erosion of the slide continues resulting in several 3 foot climb ups which can be challenging for short legged people. Was pleased to see that the maze of trails from the old summit to the new seen 3 years ago is now just one trail that showed evidence of being maintained.
Dog-Related Notes

Bugs: Very few. Became bothersome late in the day when we returned to our camp

Comments
Comments: Since our group was travelling from south of Boston we decided to split the nearly 17 mile hike over two days by tenting off the Lincoln Brook trail. This worked well. I had done this trip 3 years ago and had saved information on where to tent some 200+ feet off the trail. Was nice to see the herd path from Black Pond well established. Similarly the rats nest of herd paths from the old summit to the new is now just one clearly defined .3 mile trail that appears to have had some maintenance. The slide was as before – treacherous in places. Took a minor fall on gravel descending. Stats: 17.2 miles (includes distance hunting for tent sites), vertical rise 3515 ft, descent 3459. Total moving time 11:10 hrs.
