| Comments: |
I started my hike at 6:14am and was planning on a quick loop. At the junction of Cedar Brook Trail I ended up doing a short 3.5 mile out and back on the Cedar Brook Trail. This trail does not seem to get much traffic. A lot of water crossings (all fine) and A LOT of mud. Was a cool little detour. Back at the junction I took the Hancock Loop trail, I went up clockwise to Mount Hancock first, and then down through South Hancock. I was very happy with this decision. I passed 3 hikers on my way up, met two at South summit, and on the descent the trail was getting more traffic. Some chose to go up counter clockwise. I saw about 30 hikers heading up as I was coming down. At the parking lot around noon, the lot was not quite full, and a lot of the cars were there to enjoy the view. Ended up with a total of 12.85 miles, including the detour. Was a beautiful day! Nice cool breeze at the summit. |
