|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||The Horn, The Bulge, Mt. Cabot, NH|
||Unknown Pond Trail, Kilkenny Ridge Trail, Horn Spur|
|Date of Hike:
||Thursday, August 6, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||I parked at the small lot 1/10 mile beyond the trailhead of Unknown Pond Trail on Mill Brook Road.
Only one other car at the lot, half a dozen on the side of the road on either side of the bridge at the actual trailhead, including a SUV with Maine plates that got too close to the edge of the road and slide sideways off the road into the mud. |
||Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||Only one and it has a bog bridge. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||A fresh leaners near the beginning of Unknown Pond Trail.
A tree near the top of Mt. Cabot was pulled out by the root ball. Climbing over the root ball was the easiest way around it. |
||Only saw a couple today, but not a bad trail for them. |
||Too windy today |
|Lost and Found:
||Finally, a cool day for hiking.|
The only place you needed to be careful was just below the summit of Mt. Cabot where a little water was running down the gravel, making it very loose.
