Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels are low. The crossings may be more difficult after the tropical storm.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many tree falls both in and out of the wilderness area. All were easy step overs, step on, duck under, or walk around. The walk around is at the base of the ascent of the North Tripyramid cone (north side). The herd path is well established. Two duck unders are just downhill from the junction of the Scaur Trail (one about 4' off ground and the other 5-6' feet above ground). The trail sign at the junction of Scaur Trail is just above ground level. The trail at the base of the north approach to the North Tripyramid summit cone runs in some eroded trenches.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Good for most dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: A few mosquitoes in brook valley.

Comments
Comments: Most of the trail is dry. Most mud areas can be traversed on embedded rocks. There are three one log bog bridges of limited usefulness. The ledges on the upper north side of North Tripyramid may be difficult in wet/icy conditions. There are many subsidiary paths that avoid the steepest rock slabs. In dry conditions the ascent over the ledges can be accomplished with hand and foot holds.
The was a clear bottle just downhill of the west outlook on Middle Tripyramid that may have been a geo cache container. There are limited views at both summits. Met about half a dozen guys from Westchester county NY on North Tripyramid who had ascended via north slide. Met a Cape Cod hiker on the north side of North Tripyramid.
