Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We turned off Route 26 heading towards the Maine border at the sign for Bull Moose Campground. The ATV road is in great shape so we were able to drive all the way to the junction with the snowmobile road. Nice big clearing there for parking and easy turnaround.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One brook crossing you have to do twice, between the snowmobile road and the south peak. Depending on where you cross, there is a beaver dam which widens it considerably so you need to head further west to get to a shallower crossing. If you drop off the east side of the south peak, you will end up crossing the brook plus several tributaries. Very thick vegetation this direction.

Comments: Milan All Weather Riders trail system, bushwhack, skidder roads

Headed down the snowmobile road about .3 mile before entering the woods towards the north peak. Moderate slope at first through nice woods. Became a bit steeper towards the top. Once we gained the summit, we hit multiple bumps before locating the jar: just be stubborn! We signed in and took a heading more directly towards the southern peak and descended to the snowmobile road to the spot almost exactly where Brian Bond mentioned finding multiple moose remains, and there they were: a real bonanza! Bones and vertebrae: really amazing! We walked east on the snowmobile trail looking for a break in the vegetation to start our bushwhack towards south peak. In we went and soon came to the brook, just east of the beaver dam. We walked upstream until we found a spot where we could rock hop across then continued through pretty thick woods to a logging road. A skidder road headed directly towards the summit, ending/turning away at the edge of the woods. We continued straight, climbing through nice woods but up a VERY STEEP climb to the flat summit. Walked all the way to the southern end where we found the jar. We signed in and took a heading for our car, seeing a more moderate grade. It was moderate then very steep for about .1 mile then moderate once again. We hit an old skid road so followed it until we hit another heading down to that logging road we had crossed. Figuring it had to come out at the road, we followed it: big mistake! It dead ended at more woods. We continued on into what became Spruce, hobblebush, marsh grass hell! We made it through, crossing the brook twice before finally entering more open woods. We finally popped out right by our car! Recommend descending South peak by returning to the snowmobile road, just saying!
