Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: 2 other cars at the Kanc trailhead at ~0645 (looked to have slept over) and a couple others at Tripoli. The Kanc parking area is quite small, maybe room for 6 vehicles.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Everything is pretty dry. Only the crossing of Pine Brook required the soles of my shoes to get wet.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blow downs here and there, but nothing to be concerned with. There is a lack of blazes especially on the loop between the ponds and closer to Tripoli Road. Wasn't an issue today, but during winter with snow cover I could see way finding being a bit difficult. There is a completely deteriorated bog bridge close to Tripoli that is creating some trail creep as people avoid the mud.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My lab loved it. Ample water and some great swimming/wading in the ponds.
Bugs
Bugs: None!

Comments
Comments: Did the lollypop from the Kanc and back. Only saw a family of 4 starting out from Tripoli mid-morning. This is an excellent hike and the ponds are GORGEOUS, East Pond especially. One item to note was the numerous fat tire bike tracks along the entire route. Did not see anyone actually riding (some of the terrain would be pretty gnarly) but be aware that this trail looks to get a fair amount of MTB traffic.
