Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: small lot for 3-4 cars on FR 211. we were the only ones at start/finish.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: water levels are extremely low in this part of the state. no trouble crossing any streams. even the soggy bits around the ponds were not that soggy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: all trails in good shape. had to look around a bit for yellow blazes at the last beaver pond/mudpit on Hubbard Brook tr. Mt. Kineo and Donkey Hill Cut-off blazed and easily followed. On Three Ponds, after crossing the wide grassy snowmobile trail (marked by rock cairns on either side) the blazes are very faint and careful attention is needed to stay on the footbed.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: terrain is fine for dogs, but not much water right now.
Bugs
Bugs: mosquitos throughout the day, not horrible, but i used spray. a few black flies still lingering. there are a few grassy areas to go thru, but i didn't find any ticks. many houseflies in the woods on the BW up/down to Kineo that were annoying.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: mylar balloon in the middle of the woods on the BW. why can't these things be biodegradable. grr.

Comments
Comments: CW redline loop and BW up to Kineo. no one had signed the register between us and the last hiker on June 7. Not the worst BW I've ever done, but not the most fun either. Overall a great day! These trails are probably the driest they've been since the last drought in 2016. A couple of mud pits on 3 ponds, but easily traveled over. The soggiest area was around the last pond. 16miles RT and heard/glimpsed a few folks near the shelter and then crossed paths with one other hiker halfway across 3 ponds.
