Comments
Comments: Parked at Success Trail trailhead, walked 0.5 mile down Success Pond Road to the logging road; within 0.1 mile it has major washouts and is no longer drivable. Breaking off from the main logging road at 1800', I took a partly grown-in logging road going SE towards North Bald Cap till it petered out and began the bushwhack in nice woods, at times going due south to avoid cliffy areas, then went due east to the top for 0.2 miles in steep terrain but open woods. First person to sign in since Sept '19. Bushwhacked off the summit mostly south down the spine, but with increasingly thick woods halfway down, I found slightly more open woods just to the west of the spine, avoiding the swamp to the west. Impassable woods kept pushing me west, and I picked up the AT at the bend in the trail between Upper Gentian Pond and Gentian Pond, then taking Mahoosuc Trail north and back to my car via Success Trail. Good day in the woods.
