Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: On Garfield Trail, rock hoppable. On Gale River Trail, each of the two large crossings had submerged stepping stones, maybe 1-2" underwater.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns removed during the day. A few larger ones remaining on the Gale River Trail, below and above Gale River crossings.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hot day, but the dogs were able to find water for most of the route. A few of the wet scrambles slowed the dogs down, but in general they performed better on them than their group of humans.
Bugs
Bugs: A little pesky in the lower elevations, but not terrible.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One glove on Garfield Trail. Vehicle key near second crossing on Gale River Trail.

Comments
Comments: Loop was essentially snow free (a few tiny, avoidable patches near Garfield that will be gone pretty soon) and in reasonably good shape. Garfield Trail muddy in usual places, but not too bad. Took abandoned Garfield Pond Trail - a few more blowdowns than last year, but not too bad.

Garfield Ridge Trail had same old waterfall section below campsite - a little tricky to descend. Some slippery ledges. Bushwhacked to Garfield Ridge East and West recognized summits - weather improved just in time to enjoy nice views from East Peak ledges. Both bushwhacks a little bit thick in places, but relatively short. Galehead Hut open on caretaker basis still. Gale River Trail a little slippery on steeps, but otherwise okay. New bypass not yet open or visible.
