Comments
Comments: Walked up Old Cherry Mountain Road to Mill Brook Road. Crossed around gate and continued up Mill Brook Road for a little more than 1 mile until we reached Forest Road 93B on our left. Followed the forest road to a four way crossing with some snowmobile trails. UP until now, we had been faithfully following Brian Bond's directions. Got confused at this intersection as the snowmobile trail that went to the left turned again and we thought it was doing a U-Turn: oops! Anyway, we returned to the intersection and took the snowmobile road straight across from 93B, following it past an intersection with another snowmobile trail coming in from the left. Shortly after this we started our bushwhack towards the peak. All went well except for a section of blowdowns we had to negotiate for about .1 mile. Once we crossed the brook, the woods cleared once again and we were in nice woods until just below the summit where we encountered some tight new growth areas. However, we soon located the jar. On the way back down, we headed towards the four way intersection, going through nice woods and coming out on the snowmobile road we should have followed about .5 miles from the 4-way junction. Nice clear trail with several bridges. Just before the intersection, it turns right, heads down to a bridge over Mill Brook, heads back up and turns sharp left then right before heading to the intersection. (When coming at this from Forest Road 93B, just trust that although it seems like you are making a U-turn, the trail turns back to the mountain!) The rest of the way back to the car was the same as we had come up. Fairly easy hike as the woods are pretty nice and the grade is never steep.
